Day 32

Strength training day today. I didn’t even think about trying Jari Love’s Get Ripped 1000 workout again! Instead I decided to pick a workout that I haven’t done in ages.

This DVD is packed with workout options: cardio kickboxing, boot camp and strength training. When you select one of these options you have even more choices. There are warmup/workout 1/cool down, then the same but with workout 2, then the combined 1&2. Some workouts have abs as well.

I chose bootcamp workout 1 without the cool down so it was about 18 minutes. Then I hopped over to the kickboxing workout and then finished with the full strength workout [30 mins]. So I completed an hour of exercises. Oddly enough the strength legs section was more like a boot camp workout to me than the listed boot camp one. There were quite a bit of plyometrics, like squat jumps, that made my heart rate soar.

It’s a good workout, program wise – it had my heart going but the first half [cardio segment] grated on my nerves somewhat. A reviewer at amazon.com mentioned Meghan’s voice as sounding ‘like nails on a chalkboard’. I must say I concur! In the strength training segment Meghan is a lot less shrieky as she is not jumping up and down screaming. I hate to complain about an instructor’s delivery unless it is imperative, and knowing that about this workout is imperative if you were thinking about a purchase.
