40 mins | hand weights
Day 36
Yesterday should have been strength day but I didn’t feel like doing it. I guess after feeling like crap when doing Jari Love’s Get Ripped 1000 it kind of turned me off weights for a while. So I was trying to think of what easier toning workout I have in my collection and I immediately thought of Turbo Sculpt. I have had it for a couple of years but never did it as it was on the learn and burn/20 minute workout DVD. I figured I didn’t really have a need for those at the time so I always bypassed Turbo Sculpt.
What I did this morning was the 20 minute workout sans cooldown, so it was 18 minutes, and then the sculpt which lasts 40 minutes. I kept thinking ‘where’s the turbo?’ and then Chalene Johnson mentioned, as if she heard me, that the results are turbo, not the speed. And I am sure they are – the moves are pretty slow and precise and I had a nice burn going. I used 5lb weights and I felt I could have upped them in some areas, but it was a good burn nonetheless.
The leg work was good: my quads and butt were screaming for a break.
As with all the other Turbo Jam workouts the production is high end. The only thing that ticked me off was the participant Mindy. OMG – what was up with the constant hamming when the camera went anywhere near her? She is like the Turbo version of Constantine Maroulis! I had noticed it a little in other Turbo workouts but in this one she takes it to new heights!!! None of the other people in the group are anywhere near as obnoxious, bless her heart.
Here are the stats:
3/13/08
57:52 [workout time]
38:07 [in aerobic zone 60% -80% Target Heart Rate]
147 bpm [average heart rate] – high! Lots of squats and lunges
171 bpm [highest heart rate]
465 [cals burned] – very nice![]()

[...] The music is funky and Chalene is lots of fun, as usual. The first time I did this DVD I wanted to shoot Mindy because she was so unbelievably obnoxious. This time I decided that every time the camera went [...]
