Workout DVD #29: Turbo Jam Cardio Party

45 mins

Day 56

This is such a fun and effective workout! I can feel my abs aching slightly already and there was no designated ab section in this workout! Why bother lying down doing boring crunches when you can do Cardio Party and build rock hard abs while having fun? Of course you have to burn the flab on top of those rock hard abs to be able to appreciate them after all the wheels, twists and zig zag with a knee moves Chalene Johnson puts you through in this, or any other, Turbo Jam workout.

As always Chalene is amazing. I love her delivery – so motivating without being annoying. And I love her expressions – she’s not afraid of pulling silly faces – she’s the real deal. :)

This workout was pretty high intensity for me – I was so into it that I was just jumping, kicking and punching like a woman possessed. I had done this workout about 2 years ago, lent it out, forgotten about it, gotten it back – and now am very glad to be able to do it!

I think that as an ab workout this one beats Turbo Jam Cardio Party 2. Within 10 minutes I could feel my abs being pulled every which way from all the reaching and pulling, twisting and bending. You have to make sure that you maintain a tuck throughout this workout so you don’t hurt your back, as you will move a lot and fast.

So after lots of great segments I was sad that it was over – 45 minutes just flew by. Chalene needs to produce some 60 minute workouts! But now that I have this workout back in my collection I am going to use it till I abuse it!

Here are my stats for today:

4/2/08

43:37 [workout time]
15:23 [in aerobic zone 60% -80% Target Heart Rate]
153 bpm [average heart rate] – high as this is a high intensity workout!
181 bpm [highest heart rate] – that’s from the ‘turbo’
376 [cals burned] – more than for CP 2!
