Day 85

Today was strength training day so I was pleased to be able to try out a Karen Voight DVD that I have never done before – even though it was made in 2005.

Netflix writes:

Who says that getting toned takes hundreds of hours at the gym? Clocking in at just 30 minutes, this efficient workout regimen led by fitness instructor Karen Voight promises strong, sculpted and defined muscles with a total-body conditioning program that incorporates 5- to 10-pound dumbbells for added resistance. A specially formulated floor routine also targets your midsection and core muscles for a slim and sexy physique.

It was basically 20 minutes or so of lower and then upper body work, 5 minutes of abs and core, and 5 of cooldown/stretch. There wasn’t much new in there, a few variations on old moves but as usual Karen instructs perfectly and is a joy to follow. And, as usual, Karen doesn’t make things easy – if you use a heavy enough weight.

The lower body work was made harder by balancing on one leg and I really appreciated the deadlifts with rows done on just one leg. All in all it was a nice weights workout when you don’t have much time and I warmed up first with the Turbo Jam 20 minute workout to get some cardio in.

I forgot to record my stats and erased the file on my heart rate monitor before I had time to write this post! So, no stats for today. :(
