Days 90 & 91

Well I decided that I would do the 30 day shred workout DVD every day this week, followed by Chalene Johnson’s 20 minute Turbo Jam workout, and just report a little on how that feels. So, I am putting the last two workout’s details together.

After the first try at the shred workout, which killed me, I realized my nutrition had let me done and made the workout very hard, so that day I made sure I filled up on starchy carbs. The result for the second try at the DVD was a real improvement. I felt good throughout the whole 20+ minutes [don't get me wrong I still huffed and puffed] because my muscles had the juice to keep on going.

When it came time for the turbo workout I felt good and spent by the end, had burned 30 more cals than the day before, and ended up feeling great the whole day. A much better experience. :)

Stats for Day 90:

5/6/08

48:36 [workout time]
18:31[in aerobic zone 60% -80% Target Heart Rate]
151 bpm [average heart rate] – pretty high
181 bpm [highest heart rate] – 100% my max HR from the turbo
436 [cals burned]

Today I did the exact same workouts but clocked in a few extra minutes of stair walking because we had a power outage for about 5 minutes and I had to keep exercising. Thankfully the power came back on quickly so I could resume my kickboxing.

Anyway, today I report a much improved ability to do the push ups – still modified [on my knees] but they were a lot less taxing. I am soooo not good at push ups! I used to be pretty good at them but now I pretty much suck at them! Everything went much easier today with the circuit training – I even had bounce in me when doing the last lot of jump rope. :)

I think tomorrow I will probably do the shred and then do a lower impact cardio workout – give my heart a bit of a rest.

Here are today’s stats:

5/7/08

53:14 [workout time]
22:41 [in aerobic zone 60% -80% Target Heart Rate]
150 bpm [average heart rate] – pretty high
177 bpm [highest heart rate]
462 [cals burned] – nice!

  1. So you’ve just about reached your 3-month goal to use DVDs to workout? Any progress with the weight loss?

  2. Hi prkat,

Thanks for visiting. I finally got around to reviewing my 3 month experience at http://3mths.wordpress.com/2008/05/13/the-3-month-workout-review-was-it-all-worth-it/ so you can read all about it there. I mention that NO I have not lost any weight, but I have gained more muscle and lost some fat – and I am happy about that. I will continue on with the DVDs but my inner gym rat has been re-ignited and I will be joining a gym some time soon.
